Andrew Latham is an avid soccer player and holds a Canadian Soccer Association A license, a US Soccer A license, and a Union of European Football Association (UEFA) B license. Andrew is very excited to be involved with PacificSport because as a regional coach for soccer he was impressed with the potential that PacificSport had to offer to coaches in terms of resources and support. "I want to be a part of that resource and help other coaches improve”.
He attended University of New Orleans for three years and currently works as an Independent Contractor for the Kelowna United Soccer Program, is the Technical Director for Kelowna United and the Program Director for Interior Soccer Programs. One of his volunteer assignments was with “Soccer in the streets in New Orleans” Louisiana.
Dave Lieskovsky has been involved in all aspects of sport, from playing to coaching to administration. His favorite recreational sport is Alpine Skiing. Dave is very enthusiastic about PacificSport and is proud to be involved because "its mandate is consistent with our sport & recreation department’s directions".
A graduate of Mount Royal College (Diploma – Community Recreation) and Washington State University (BA – Recreation and Park Administration), he is currently employed with the City of Penticton as the Acting Manager of Recreation. He is also the Chair of the KidSport Penticton Committee and has volunteered at other regional initiatives including; Race Director – Junior Triathlon; Event Coordinator – Ogopogo Ski Express (fund raiser – Kids Cancer Camp); and Volunteer – Ironman Canada.
David Graham has a passion for all sport. His favorite sport is skiing, and he has competed in basketball, squash, racquetball, downhill skiing, ski mountaineering, and cycling... mostly at a recreational level. David became involved with PacificSport to assist with the development of sport at all levels in the region.
A graduate of McMaster University and Gonzaga University, Spokane, USA, he is currently the Director of Recreation, Parks and Culture for the City of Kelowna. He has also had his hand in racquetball, gymnastics, swimming, volleyball, judo, triathlon at an administrative capacity including as the Chair for Kelowna Apple Triathlon as a Member of the Attorney General’s Youth Program Committee and as the Chair for the People in Motion program.
Doug Ross has competed at the provincial level in racquetball and has participated in volleyball, hockey, softball, Nordic skiing and many other sports recreationally. Doug became involved with PacificSport because “sport has always been a huge part of my life and when the opportunity came up for Vernon to become involved in PacificSport I jumped at the chance.”
Doug holds a BCRPA Leisure Development Certificate and is a Recreation Programmer with the City of Vernon contracted to Greater Vernon Services Parks, Recreation & Culture. He has served as an administrator for several sport leagues including hockey, softball and basketball. He is currently coaching rep soccer for NOYSA and Nordic Skiing for the Sovereign Lake Nordic Club’s Ski League program and is the chairman of the Greater Vernon KidSport Committee.
Jim Gabriel has participated in all types of sports, but it was his love of running and swimming that lead him to swimming and triathlon at the competitive level. He became involved in PacificSport to “move athletes ahead, to influence change and to support a model that is progressive with sport development.”
A graduate of BCIT (Recreation Facilities Management) and University of Alberta (Recreation Administration), he is currently the Sports and Recreation Manager of the City of Kelowna’s Recreation, Parks and Culture Department. His volunteer commitments include coaching minor hockey and soccer.
Jock Tyre is involved with every aspect of sport from grass roots to high performance coaching. Other than curling, his sport passions are playing hockey and short track speed skating. He became involved with PacificSport to assist with its' development and increase in the profile of coaching and programs in the Okanagan.
Jock is a graduate of Sheridan College, Ontario (Diploma in Hotel and Restaurant Management) and is currently the General Manager of the Kelowna Curling Club, responsible for facility, food and beverage. He has volunteered as Director for District 3 of Curl BC as well as the Special Olympics Provincial Coach, the Special Olympics National Coaching Advisory Board and has been a Director of the CABC Board.
Lorne Friesen’s sport background is primarily as a recreational athlete with a particular interest in skiing (snow and water), snowboarding, and golf. As a founding member and voice for PacificSport Okanagan, he states “PacificSport seemed to be a good vehicle for us as a community to improve communication and collaboration between various components of the sport system thereby improving services for local athletes.”
A graduate of University of British Columbia (BSc PT, MCPA), Lorne is currently self employed and working as a consultant providing direction for a Wellness Resort development in Kelowna. Lorne volunteers on various boards and committees including; Business Affairs Committee, Physiotherapy Association of BC, PABC-ICBC Soft Tissue Injuries Task Force, various Church Boards and the Board of Church Extension, BCMB Conference.
Pam Paulhus has been involved in sports all her life, having competed in BC provincial soccer and university level field hockey. She became involved with PacificSport because she has been on the other side, as a student athlete and knows how important it is to have a solid support system.
A graduate of Washington State University (BA - Recreational Management), Pam is currently the Senior Events Manager for two sport arenas, Prospera Place in Kelowna and Save on Foods Memorial Centre in Victoria.
Rob Johnson was a member of the varsity UBC Thunderbird Football Team from 1982-1985. These days his favorite sports are soccer, water skiing, and tennis. He became involved with PacificSport because he is a strong believer in the value of sport as a component of everyone’s education, growth and development.
A graduate of UBC (BPE, MPE), Rob is currently employed as Associate Professor Faculty of Education, Director, Athletics & Recreation at the UBC Okanagan campus. His volunteer roles are primarily with youth sport organizations as a coach and/or administrator. He is currently the Chair of the Camp Owaissi Board of Directors (a children’s summer camp on the Westside) and he also keeps busy coaching three youth soccer teams.
