Sharon Urton
Sharon Urton has been involved in sport at the University/College level as an athlete, coach and sports science instructor. She became involved with PacificSport for a variety of reasons including “community building" and branding PacificSport so it is known as the lead organization in BC for ensuring sports science is integrated into our delivery systems to improve both health and performance outcomes.
A graduate of UBC (MPE Motor Learning), Sharon is currently working for Kids Up Front Vancouver, a National Foundation which works to give all kids a boost through donated tickets to attend sports and cultural events that they and their families might not have an opportunity to experience otherwise. She is Co-Chair, with Bob Lenarduzzi of the Whitecaps, of the Vancouver Active Communities Network launched in January 2007 with over 60 organizations working collaboratively to activate the City of Vancouver to increase their physical activity 20% by 2010 and then of course sustain this.
Sharon lives in Vancouver with her husband, pdiatrist Bill Urton. They have 2 adult children Geoff and Sarah who have made Vancouver their home.
