Giuseppe Liberatore has been an athlete and coach for numerous sports, including rugby and football. He became involved in CSC Pacific as he has “a strong passion for sports and believes that the development of sport in BC is a great asset for the entire health of our community”.
A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Indiana (MBA), Ecoles des Hautes Etudes Commerciales, France (Masters in Management) and McGill University (BA), he is a faculty member for the Thompson Rivers University School of Business and Economics, and operates Global AnaLytica Research. Giuseppe is involved in international education by training faculty in India, performance research in China and helping with the development of new post-secondary instutions in Georgia. His volunteer commitments have included City of Kamloops SPC Grants Committee (Chair), and the Social Planning Council for Kamloops (Vice Chair).
Jim Gabriel has participated in all types of sports, but it was his love of running and swimming that lead him to swimming and triathlon at the competitive level. He became involved in CSC Pacific to “move athletes ahead, to influence change and support a model that is progressive with sport development.”
A graduate of BCIT (Recreation Facilities Management) and University of Alberta (Recreation Administration), he is the Sports and Facilities Manager in the City of Kelowna’s Recreation Services Department. His volunteer commitments include coaching minor hockey.
Peter Jackson represented Canada in rowing and tennis and continues to be involved in these sports as a volunteer. He became involved in CSC Pacific as he believes that bringing “a strong, goal-oriented business approach to the assistance of athletes in Canada will help them achieve at the high level that both Canadians and the athletes themselves desire”.
A graduate of UBC (BSc), he most recently worked as the Executive VP of Business Development- Asia for Ticketmaster. In addition to working with Tennis BC (President) and the UBC Rowing Team (Advisor), he has volunteered with the Vancouver Recital Society and the Greater Vancouver Sport Tourism Task Force.
Elizabeth Urbach is a rowing World Champion and continues to be involved with the Olympic movement as the Alpine Coordinator with VANOC. She became involved in CSC Pacific due to a “strong desire to repay the assistance that was so vital to my success and to ensure that Canadian athletes and coaches receive the support they need to pursue excellence at an international level”.
A graduate of McMaster University (BA), her volunteer commitment has included working with the adaptive rowing program.
A silver medalist from the 1972 Olympic Games, Leslie Cliff was on the National Swim Team from 1969-1976 and still claims swimming as her favourite sport. She is involved with CSC Pacific as she “wants to give back to sport”.
A graduate of Arizona State University, Leslie is a Chartered Financial Analyst, an Honourary Chartered Accountant and an Order of Canada recipient. She co-founded Genus Capital Management in 1989 and currently serves on the York House School Foundation.
George Fuller is a Victoria Sports Hall of Fame inductee, was a member of the 1970 Amateur World Series team and played soccer at the Premier level as a teenager. He became involved in CSC Pacific as he wants to “contribute to the sport culture of BC” and believes that being involved in sport exposes one to “such necessary qualities as responsibility, accountability, sharing, competition and compassion”.
A graduate of UBC (LLB) and UVic (BA, Economics), he is currently associated with Gowlings, Lafleur & Henderson LLP. His volunteer commitments have included the American Little League (President), the Vic West Soccer Association (Director) and the BC Cancer Foundation (Advisory Board member). George was a member of Team Canada for Baseball and is a member of the Victoria Sports Hall of Fame.
Joanne Houghton came to Canada from Australia where she benefited from an enviable half day per week dedicated to sport and physical activity. As a Canadian, she has committed her energies to speed skating. Her involvement introduced her to the original PacificSport multi-sport development centre framework, which she saw as “the perfect conduit and ideology to take sport in BC in a different direction.”
She is the Branch Manager of a growing TD Canada Trust Retail Branch in Abbotsford and is a Mutual Funds Registered Representative and Branch Compliance Officer. Her other volunteer commitments include Chair, PacificSport Fraser Valley, President of the Ridge Meadows Racers and Matsqui Blades Speed Skating Clubs, and Committee Advisor on the Fraser Valley Cancer Clinic’s Breast Cancer Advocacy Committee.
George Morfitt is an inducted member of the B.C. Sports Hall of Fame and has many squash, racquetball and tennis titles to his credit. He is involved in CSC Pacific because of a “wish to contribute to the "healthy Canadians" initiative by serving and promoting the current and future interests of sport at all levels throughout British Columbia.”
He is a graduate of the University of British Columbia and after a 20-year career in industry, served two terms as Auditor General of British Columbia. He has held senior executive positions in a number of organizations, including: President, B.C. Institute of Chartered Accountants; Chair, Universities Council of B.C. and Chair, UBC Board of Governors. He is a former municipal alderman and is a past President of both the Squash Canada and Squash BC.
George is a Fellow of the B.C. Institute of Chartered Accountants, a Queen's Silver and Golden Jubilee Medallist and a past Executive of the Year for Canadian Sport.
Steve Raper is involved with a number of sports as a recreational athlete and coach. He became involved in CSC Pacific as he feels “it is important that the region’s athletes, organizations and community is represented in the provincial picture. As an advocate of Northern BC, but one who understands the role of the province, a balanced approach is needed.”
A graduate of Royal Roads University (MBA) with a Doctor of Business Administration (University of Newcastle, UK) pending, he is the Manager of Marketing and Enrollment at the College of New Caledonia.
Mike Hunter has had a lifelong interest in sport. He became involved with CSC Pacific because he feels sport plays an integral roll in developing a healthy family and society.
A graduate of the University of Leicester (BA, Social Sciences) and Simon Fraser University (MA), Mike runs a small business consultancy firm. In 2001, Mike was elected as the MLA for Nanaimo for the BC Liberals. He served on a variety of Legislative Committees, and was appointed Deputy Caucus Whip in 2003.
His Volunteer commitments include the Nanaimo Youth Services Association (Director) and the Nanaimo Addiction Foundation (Trustee).
Jocelyn Snih has had a passion for horseback riding since a young age. She became involved with CSC Pacific because she recognizes the opportunities that are available to sport in the upcoming years and is excited to contribute to the evolution of the organization.
A graduate of Saint Mary’s University (BA, Psychology), Jocelyn is an independent not-for-profit consultant with 16 years of professional fundraising experience. In 2001 she left her position as Development Manager at the University of Northern British Columbia to begin her own consulting company so she could assist other local not-for-profits to develop and enhance their fundraising programs. In this capacity, she has assisted the Prince George Judy Club, Prince George Community Foundation, College of New Caledonia, Prince George Hospice Society and the Prince George United Way.
For fun, Jocelyn loves to ride and train her horses: Charlie, Sundance and Foley.
